Adventures in Spanish offers classes for children and adults.

Children: Learning While Having Fun!

My Spanish classes immerse children in the language through Latin American arts and culture. Using songs, dance, games, and themed art projects (ABC, animals, fruits, vegetables), small groups of up to 5 students build their skills in a fun, engaging environment.

The program supports cognitive, motor, and neurolinguistic development for children ages 1–12. We begin with basic greetings, expressions, vocabulary, and grammar, and gradually progress to advanced communication, including verb conjugation and tenses, as well as basic writing and reading for children ages 6 and up.

There are two types of classes:

  1. Spanish Art Playgroup: A 1-hour group session (including a 5-minute free play break) held weekly in my backyard, surrounded by beautiful trees, squirrels, and birds during the spring, summer, and part of the fall. Limited to 5 children per playgroup. BOOK ONLINE

2. Private class (In- Person or Online): Classes are held at the student’s home, where I bring all necessary materials for a 1-hour personalized session tailored to the child’s needs. BOOK ONLINE

Adults:

  • Private (In-Person or Online): I create a customized curriculum for each student, starting with an online placement test to assess their Spanish level. Every 60-minute class is fully tailored to help students achieve their language goals, covering all levels from beginner (A1) to advanced conversational and professional Spanish (C3), offered in person or online. Mary is a great teacher. She’s patient and kind and encouraging. I’ve really enjoyed my private lessons with her and have seen my Spanish skills increase. It helps that she’s a native speaker, so she is able to give you anecdotes of what are appropriate words and phrases used in different Spanish-speaking parts of the world. I would recommend her as a teacher no matter what your Spanish skills are. She’s great with kids and adults alike.

I have been thrilled with the private online Spanish lessons my 9-year-old has been taking with Ms. Mary. We started right around when everything shut down for Covid, so it’s almost been 3 years now. Wow time flies. From the very first lesson, Ms. Mary created a warm and engaging learning environment for my son. She has used a variety of teaching methods including games, songs, and stories to keep my child interested and engaged during the lesson. Ms. Mary is enthusiastic, creative, patient, and kind. She is always willing to go over concepts until my son fully understands them. My child has gone from knowing no Spanish to being able to understand and interact with locals when we went to Costa Rica. In addition to the tutoring, Ms. Mary also hosts cultural events where many of her students can get together and learn more about different Latin American countries. Ms. Mary truly cares about her students and is dedicated to helping them succeed.
